Tribune vs Dawn awesomness report April 2011

Posted on Updated on

Guys I’m just gonna do this with pictures because writing about it would be too much effort. However, I do have an impartial third part analyst to help me out with this! (scroll away)

Express Tribune vs Dawn on (30 day Rank via Alexa’s analytics) – you might note that showing 30 days worth of data shows something a lot different from say, showing 7 days worth of data?

Express Tribune vs Dawn on (30 day Reach i.e. no of people on internet) – you might note that a lottta Indians jumped over to Dawn’s site the days around the world cup end, but then the slump brought em right back down to….

Express Tribune vs Dawn on (30 day pageviews i.e. no of pages seen by visitors) – ya might note that 0.001 and 0.006 means Tribune has at least 60% of pageviews that Dawn has…

Perhaps more tellingly – Express Tribune vs Dawn on (Max timeframe Rank – killer trajectory)… ya might make some insinuations from that…in fact, what the hell, go wild and say neck and neck! 😀 whats 6months or so eh?

Express Tribune vs Dawn Traffic Rank within Pakistan

Dawn – somewhere in the 60s (ya might note that this actually varies on a day to day basis – so yknow, we might be right next to them a coupla days n then 20 points away just to bounce right back…so ya might wanna rely on analytics stretching back a bit no?)

Tribune – somewhere in the 70s;3/PK

Express Tribune vs Dawn on webtrafficspy

Tribune rank – 41,000 people a day! (its max 5% off, scouts honour)

Dawn rank – 64,000 people a day! (their peeps read more pages though – however, was that cause of bad page navigation? Check Alexa to find out how their new site layout is doing! Alternately, is it because Tribune has lots of hits through FB and Twitter but those individuals bounce away after reading that single page? Or is it cause our homepage has everything on it?  Damn, why are analytics so hard!)

I also hired a totally impartial third party analyst to look into this. Hes a tad more hip than Creative Chaos, and looks better in a suit:

If you made it to the end of this post, I am damn impressed! Moral of the story is: Wear a suit.

Maybe instead of wasting time on proving that your paper has a comparable–albeit still inferior–online presence to Dawn, you should focus on improving the trashy elitist echo chamber reporting that qualifies as news. Grow up, trolls.
