Scratch that, NNI should stop plagiarizing The Express Tribune

[update: Salim Bokhari, editor, The Nation has clarified that The Nation’s web desk picked up the story from local news agency NNI which had copy/pasted and released the Tribune story verbatim as their own]

An email I sent to our editor today:

The Nation’s web desk has been plagiarizing our stories on a daily basis, verbatim, without giving any credit to Tribune. I have been unable to contact them through their contacts provided on the website. I strongly recommend that we prevent this from becoming a pattern for local news online. Hope something can be done.

The Supreme Court has taken suo motu notice of assault on polling staff by a candidate for the Tando Muhammad Khan by-polls Waheeda Shah Bukhari.

Bukhari was declared the winner in the initial vote-count of the Tando Muhammad Khan provincial seat by-poll (PS 53), but following the slapping incident of Saturday, the Election Commission of Pakistan withheld official results.

Taking notice of on Wednesday, the SC summoned Bukhari on March 2, and the inspector-general of Sindh police and the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Hamid Ali Mirza have also been told to appear before the court. However, staff members who were assaulted have not yet been summoned.

Bukhari was caught on camera slapping two women at polling station No. 16 at the Government Girls High School.
