Summary

I am a career journalist who has been associated with the top media groups in Pakistan – Dawn, Geo and Express. I have worked with the news in all mediums, TV, print and online as Web Editor, The Express Tribune, Roznama Express and Express News.

I am currently running a 30-member web desk at Express Media Group. Heading tribune.com.pk, and Urdu news portal express.pk in terms of content, online strategy, planning, convergence and social media. I am a regular writer for Tribune’s op-ed and blog sections, focusing on local media and the internet. I also created Jay’s Toons – an online comic series commenting on the political and social dynamics of Pakistan.

• Trainer for 2 day workshop with NGO participants on understanding cyberspace for the workplace, for Church World Service.
• Assistant Researcher for Mapping Digital Media: Pakistan – a 105 page report on local media for Open Society Foundations.
• Panelist, The New Digital Age Symposium organized by SZABIST. Spoke on Digital Tech future of Pakistan.
• Panelist, Seminar on Digital Journalism organized by Open Society Foundations.
• Presented Tribune as digital journalism case study for Unilever marketing team.
